ABOUT
On Sunday, September 16, 2020, we will reconvene for the 5th edition of the Data for Good Exchange in order to strengthen our community. The overall theme for this year’s gathering will be “Our Data for Good?” or how data scientists, corporations, policy makers and researchers can collaborate on data science projects that result in positive social outcomes, ensuring that the data science we practice focuses on everyone having a stake, making it solid, fair, and equitable.
The data revolution has enabled businesses to provide new products and better service, at a lower cost, and to more customers, at a scale of change unseen since the Industrial Revolution. While the corporate sector has effectively engaged the academic community in leveraging data to solve their business challenges, the public and non-profit sectors have seen comparatively fewer practical applications of data science methods to improve civic and social outcomes.
Since 2020, Bloomberg has hosted an annual conference related to the applications of data science to address problems related to the social good. This forum has brought together participants from across academia, industry, government and NGOs, enabling them to share insights and progress on applying modern machine learning and data science methods to social problems.
