Although\, after the unpalatable and historic economic m eltdown (2008)\, global economy is on the path of recovery\, it seems to b e very slow. Reports indicate that policy makers and analysts have request ed international cooperation in framing suitable macroeconomic policies in order to ensure stable and sustained growth. In this regard\, it is quite interesting to note that G-20 forum has fixed a global growth target to a id and accelerate such an initiative. But the report further suggests that developed economies do not agree and resort to austerity measures. The go od news\, however\, is that the microeconomic policy measures are working quite well. Far-reaching reform measures such as promoting competition and liberalization of trade\, help heavy investments in infrastructure. Of co urse\, expanding demand is crucial for global growth. Greater understandin g and cooperation among countries will be very much required at this junct ure.
\n\nThe world has many problems. Some are short-term and some are long-term. There is\, of course\, a stark difference between short-term and long-term economic prob lems. While short-term problems soften in a phased manner\, long-term econ omic problems such as global inequality in income and standard of living\, poverty\, more particularly\, in large part of Africa and select Asian ec onomies\, global warming and fast depletion of natural resources should be tackled with coordinated efforts and strategic approach by all the stakeh olders\, economists and global powers.
\n\nAgainst this backdrop\, the upcoming conference in the beautif ul city of Hong Kong makes an attempt to achieve the following objectives\ ;
\n\n1) Providing an ideal pla tform for academicians\, researchers and economists to share their researc h findings on ensuring global economic growth\;
\n\n2) Identifying the most efficient ways in which globa l growth can be ensured for generating massive employment opportunities an d entrepreneurship in different sectors so that people can be gainfully em ployed.
\n\n3) Ensuring that gr eater interaction among researchers lead to inter-disciplinary research in order to solve and tackle global economic problems\; and
\n\n4) Suggesting suitable measures to ensure a n orderly growth of the global economy.
